Ntuli a decision has been made and is not negotiable. On official Renaissance for this year you will play off 24. On any other games you will together with your 4-ball reach an agreement on the handicap you will use. This is required because if you play with your 36 and people will tend to ignore you and the credibility of your score will always suspect. You therefore cannot pride yourself to have improved but it gets interesting when people give you a challenge and count you to monitor if you up to the challenge. My advice to you is to play with 24 all the time and make it your challenge to master it. People like Lehaiwa, Edwin, Eli and myself have been playing with handicap 18 irrespective of our performance and have to some extent able to compete on some days with this handicap. Edwin was given a new challenge of 16 and after sometime after trying asked to be brought back to 18. Recently Lehaiwa has come out to take the challenge of playing off 17 and as result lost a couple bets. These some of the examples I can give you of people pushing themselves to the limit

    Mr. Macheke

I suggest Renaissance must one day come up with clear rules with regards
to handicaps and competitions to enable us to determine whether we are
being accommodated in the club or not. Because now Macheke clearly you
prefer players with a handicap like us to play on Sunday behind the
field and the intention here is not play out of 36 handicap and double
stroking all the holes as I said in my previous email that I will not
play with 36 which I am at this stage but come up with a reasonable
handicap that I can play with in the competitions.

In my opinion it is not reasonable for handicap 36 to drop to 24 because
the argument then will be e.g. you're now 22 and you must drop to 8
    handicap.

All I am saying is that accommodate me if you can with a reasonable
handicap and I PROMISE NOT TO DAMAGE THE GOLF COURSE WITH DIVOTS AND I
WILL NOT HAVE A LONG DAY I should think at least I've passed that stage.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Sir

Most clubs and I am referring to golf clubs will not allow anyone to
play in a competition on their course with more than either 18 or 24 for
men and 24 or 30 for women. Their reasons are that firstly you will
delay the field and secondly you will inevitably have a long day and
also damage their course with divots. Hence these clubs have formats for
all days. There is a day for seniors, etc. On Saturday in particular it
is members only. Now if you claim you are still learning you will be
under pressure to play on a Saturday at these courses. Hence most of
these courses prefer learners to play on sunday afternoon behind the
    field.

Social golf clubs also have rules as Tubs indicated and all those I know
have similar rules. It is incumbent on us higher handicappers to
practice and improve quickly so that we dont do longest days. A longest
day is not only bad for you as a player but it also is not nice for the
people you are playing with as it slows them and make their round
    unpleasant.

I wouldnt want to cut already low handicapers. It becomes trickier
scoring at that level and they have earned it. For instance I am playing
off an 22 and my target is that by the end of the year I should go back
to be a solid 18 again. you cant win a championship by double stroking
all the holes. I am not focussing on winning any championship this year.
But next year I want to be in the top 8. In 2013 I want to be in
contention. I want to gain promotion from Mvela at the end of next
    season.

Fair enough to have a limit but only one party suffers with the limit,
the person with a handicap beyond 24. Wouldn't it be fairer to say
everyone's handicap is dropped by a certain number / percentage
(whatever is agreed to) for competition purposes? This way everyone is
    treated the same.

    Just a suggestion.

I support you Ntuli; but you will be too strong on 36; not even Tiger
will challenge you the way he is missing cuts; in fact I already
nominate you as new king of Mvela even before tee off.

Ohhh you also get to score 7 for 2 on some par 5's or 8 for 1.

With your handicap you can beat some

Mvela players while sleeping at your bed! particularly one member who
made 1 point at Silverlakes. Lol!

    Ntuli,

Why do you listen to them when they play you off a wrong
handicap whilst they play on their correct handicaps! You must play off
your SAGA handicap just like everybody else you play with. If somebody
tells you to lower your handicap you must tell them to do the same with
theirs. There's a reason why SAGA allocated you a 36 handicap.

The rule says golfers must play off their SAGA handicaps if they
are affiliated. Don't put yourselves under undue pressure, we pay to
play golf and expect to have fun in the process but if you are no longer
enjoying yourself because you are playing on a low heavy handicap it
defeats the purpose. Even the holes are rated differently in a course
and when you score them on your score card the handicap plays a big role
there my friend and yet somebody tells you to drop your handicap.

I was once a 36 and I know how it feels and fortunately I made a
decision to play with my handicap no matter who says what because at the
end of the day I am the one who is playing not the person who tells me
to drop my handicap and that is why I still play with whatever handicap
I have because a handicap is not a status symbol but the measure of your
    game.

    Good day Gentlemen's

Guys I will suggest we have my handicap look at please
considering the facts outlined below. According to the systems I am
handicap 36 and you playing me of a 24 handicap and according to me it
puts a tremendous pressure and actually it kills my game and discourages
me of playing with the rest of team which I always want to be part of.

My question is that why a 24 not 27 or 28 handicap? then I flow
with it sequence. Look I also wish and love that one day to play out of
handicap 24 but genuine or even 6 handicap for that matter when is due
but for now I feel I am too new in this game and my days of playing of
    24 handicap are not now.

I would like to throw this matter on the table let's please talk
    about it gents.

    Hi there Peter,

I can imagine how frustrated you must feel. I have entered your
score of 98 at Wingate and re-calculated your handicap.

You are however still a 36 handicap but if you are going to keep
breaking the 100 like your last two games you will soon be coming down
    to a

    Handicap in the twenties.

The only advice I can give you is to play as often as you can
and to tell the golfers you are playing with that they can come to a
    handicap

terminal with you where you can swipe your card and they can see
that your handicap is indeed 36.

I have looked and if you play another few scores between 98 and
108 your handicap will look different by the 1st of September.

Good Luck and keep breaking the 100.

    Good day Deon

I played on 14thAugust 2011 in Wingate Golf Club and I shoot 98
if you could please enter my score because when we were done the Pro
Shop was closed already and the score machine sit inside.

Another subject here Deon is that the golfers I am playing with
them mostly they refusing me playing with my handicap 36 they said is
for woman's some they say handicap 36 doesn't exist then they will play
me of 24 handicap which puts me under a tremendous pressure as a new
learner golfer is too heavy for me. Sometimes I have invitations from
them which I cannot honour because it gives me stress as a learner and
    this kills the eagerness.

I am hardly a year in this game and my Pro hasn't even finish
lessons with me. I've received my card only last month but I am
frustrated already about golfers that will allocate a 24 handicap to me.
One will ask him selves to say why 24 handicap NOT 27 or 28 even 29 if
    handicap 36 is not existing.

Please advise me and tell what would be a proper response to
them if they allocating such handicaps I want to give them right answers
because really I want to play this game. What would SAGA says?
