Dear Golfers
I communicated with various Golf social clubs to find out how they generally run their competitions. One club does the following their 2011/2012 year.
They start their year in September.
From Sep - end of March , they play medal.
April -Aug it is IPS.
They also have a 36 hole two day competition: CLUB Champs played in January.
In between they play singles knock-out and doubles knock out.
They end the year in September with a Classic Tour played over Two days away from home. This year they are at Fish River Sun.
At their outing they have a gala dinner. There they announce the following winners
1. Medal winners. (1 to 3)
2.IPS winners.(1 to 3)
3. Club Champion and two runners up.
4.Classic Tour Winner. and runners up.
5. Presidents award ( any golfer who impressed the committee and the president based on good behaviour, time keeping,etc.)
6. The singles knock out winner and runners up.
7. The doubles knock out winner and runners up
This ladies and gentlemen is exciting and doable.

Dear All
Please see the spreadsheet attached. Which shows you how the order of merit for medal is determined at Callies Social Golf Club. The idea is similar to how I proposed but differs slightly in points allocated. All the players that participated but did not make it in the top three are given 2 points each. Only the top four earn 10, 8, 6 and 4 points respectively.
This is similar to how order of merit is determined even in the professional ranks only difference being that their 10 points is actually approximately USD1 million in hard cash.
Just sharing an idea.
