Skills
• Experience in software development using Java/J2EE technologies, Spring, Hibernate, JPA, Web Services preferred
• Should have worked on Linux and Windows
• Programming skills in one or more scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Bash, etc.)
• Experience in monitoring infrastructure and applications using tools like Nagios, Graphite, DataDog, New Relic
• Experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server
• Knowledge of or experience with Jenkins or other build automation tools
Role
• Troubleshoot environments and applications, across the entire stack – application, services/APIs, DB, OS, network, infrastructure
• Collaborate with developers on operations-related issues, providing support and guidance
• Be on-call for any critical issue support 24x7
Role and Responsibility
• DevOps leader with hands-on experience in developing & improving operations policies and procedures.
1. Integrate multiple cloud providers into Catalyst ( AWS, Azure, OpenStack etc)
2. High end exposure in Linux Administration
3. High Availability Infrastructure and Operations Architect
4. Build infrastructure automation and CI/CD solutions using configuration management toolkits ( Chef, Puppet ), Docker, Jenkins and other devops tools
5. Build a scalable web platform
• Chef, Puppet, Jenkins
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Master of Science in Information Systems (MIS or similar field) preferred.
• Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have some software developer experience (C#, Java, Git, TFS). Experience in software development using Java/J2EE technologies, Spring, Hibernate, JPA, Web Services preferred.
• Knowledge of design patterns and best practices in software design and development.
• Experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server.
• Contribute to the implementation and design of systems and networks used to operate production infrastructure with a focus on automation
• Collaborate with developers on operations-related issues, providing support and guidance
• Develop tools to monitor infrastructure and custom applications
• Troubleshoot issues across the entire stack
• Document system design and application operation procedures
• Build, monitor and tune production systems
• Take part in a shared 24x7 on-call rotation with the Support Team
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team with minimal supervision.
• Participate in verification and testing efforts as needed.
• Acumen and willingness to interface directly with customers over the phone to provide support and troubleshoot issues. Escalate problems as needed.
• Monitor and manage system alerts and notifications and respond accordingly through service tickets.
• Perform troubleshooting via log scan, problem simulation, documenting steps to reproduce problems.
• Improve customer service through fast turnaround of requests.
• Build and own the continuous integration/deployment system for the rapid release of software to both on premise and cloud based environments.
• Build and maintain scalable infrastructure to support Development, Test and Production environments by creating reusable automation scripts with flexible configuration capabilities.
• Maintain various SQL Server environments ensuring databases are backed up, optimized and secure.
• Help establish and monitor a suite of relevant KPI's to be used for detecting performance bottlenecks, error notification and expansion planning.
• Help build Software Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment tools that will support, enhance and grow our CI and CD capabilities.
• Assist the developer community by improving productivity in development integration and automation
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Barrington, IL
Desired Characteristics
• Has experience with the study, design, development, application, implementation, support or management of computer-based information systems.
• Experience with Data Center operations
• Customer focus, experience architecting and/or operating software at scale, with a good understanding of current technology practices
• Demonstrates strong communications skills both in-person with IT staff and leadership, and over the phone with system users.
• Has a good understanding of common business practices and principles.
• Experience with Healthcare standards such HL7 or other Healthcare experience preferred.
• Agile/Scrum experience preferred.
• Able to clearly articulate and document software designs, strategies and issues.
• Interest in expanding skills in application development and operations, and to be mentored by senior developers, architects and managers.
• Ability to perform debugging of Java applications
• Troubleshooting skills and experience with Linux and/or Windows
• Programming skills in one or more scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Bash, etc.)

• Experience implementing technologies with a focus on operability, reliability, and scalability

• Continuous Integration\Continuous Deployment administration experience (MSBuild, MSTest, TFS, Release Management, Powershell)
• Experience working with backend web technologies (one or more): NodeJS, Cassandra, RabbitMQ, Riak, etc.
• Experience with application tuning and performance optimization
• Attention to detail and ability to think clearly with intent to solve problems while working with others.
• Self-starter who is motivated to learn and is at ease working as part of a team of highly talented professionals
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Able to communicate at all levels of expertise in a positive, and helpful way
